This was the neatest family! I noticed right away how much fun they had together as a group. They were laughing and teasing with each other the entire time! It kept me laughing, too!
I met up with them in Bricktown and didn't realize when booking their session that we'd be competing with the Tim McGraw concert, a wedding, a mariachi band, and me getting my car towed (Don't worry it didn't actually happen, but I was worried about it during the session!) In spite of all the craziness, we were able to get some great shots and have a good time doing it!
NOTE: Okay, I won't be framing my photos for a while since Typepad seems to be giving me so much trouble with them. But, I'm still testing photos sizes. This one might just work. That being said...
Meet the Tennent family. I met up with these guys at the University of Oklahoma campus for some evening shots. It turned out to be the perfect evening, not much wind, and not too hot. The little guy was the most adorable kid ever (other than mine, of course) and his parents were pretty cute, too. They were also the nicest people, such a cool family. So, Tennent family, here's your peek!
I would have to say our golf cart purchase has been the best money we've spent in a really long time. It has provided us numerous hours of fun and enjoyment. In fact, it has become the best way to get Wes to stop crying when he's upset or even hurt. We just pile into the cart and take off on a ride through the woods. Wes recovers completely within seconds of "take off".
It's also a great way to keep Ty busy and to get relatives you don't see very often to come for a visit...like my sister, for instance. She's been here a ton in the past couple of weeks and I'm thinking I can't be that great of company. So, it must be THE CART.
Yea, so, here come some VERY interesting photos. In fact, they're so interesting I'll probably be disowned for displaying them here on my blog. Most of you probably already know I was a teacher for 8 years before becoming a stay-at-home mom and a full-time photographer. My mom is an elementary school principal (I guess I inherited the education gene). She is constantly surprising me with fun and interesting stunts she's pulling at her school to keep her kiddos engaged in the learning process...
Which leads us to her latest stunt...
On the last day of school (at many schools here in Oklahoma) the students get to participate in a "so called" talent show competition display. Basically this means the students get to dress up and sing, dance, tell jokes, act out a skit, tumble, play a banjo...or whatever else may strike their fancy. Every year the teachers also participate. Since my mother was a teacher for many years before becoming a school principal, she just can't let the teachers have all the fun. This year was no exception.
I didn't actually get to see the skit itself, but I was there for the pre-show preparation and as luck would have it, I just happened to bring my camera. Yippee for you guys!
AND, the best part is... you also get to see my sister-in-law all gussied up since she is the school secretary and my mom would never want to leave anyone out...
Here is my mom and my friend Karri (the assistant principal) getting ready for the big show.and, of course, Ty had to be right smack in the middle of it all. and, like I said...Rock On, Dude! Or, at least, that's what Joanna says! (my wonderful sister-in-law)
Yes, my poor mom is the one with the green hair. Isn't she lovely?
and if you want to know what they sang for the wonderful elementary school children in their care...
Little Braylin was absolutely adorable...so adorable, in fact, that I wanted to take her home with me. She was the best baby, too! She literally smiled and cooed for us nearly the entire session. Even after she was really tired and ready to pass out, she was still able to keep a little grin on her face.
Mom and Dad were super nice, too, which makes my job SO easy. I can't wait to take some more pics of Braylin when she gets a little bigger! I can only imagine how much fun she'll be at 6 months!
So, last night I went to the graduation of a really awesome guy I know (I taught him in 4th grade!!!). You've seen Tyler on this blog numerous times - most recently in his senior pics. I had planned to go to his graduation regardless, but his parents decided to hire me to take some pics while I was there (so they wouldn't have to worry about it and could enjoy the evening).
I started at Tyler's house and took some shots of him with his family. Then, we headed to the stadium to get ready for the big night. A great time was had by all, especially me (getting paid to hang out with friends is totally cool!).
For some of the shots there were a few things working against me (horrible zoom lens, dark stadium, long distance from the stage, etc) but I loved the shots anyway, even the blurry ones. I'm so proud of Tyler and how much he's accomplished and it feels really NEAT that I was a part of that. He was a great kid in 4th grade and is still the same sweet guy now that he was then. So, congratulations Tyler! You ROCK, buddy!
I'm still working out the kinks with Typepad as you can see by the size of my pics!! I promise to have it all fixed by the next post!
So, this is my third attempt at a post today - seriously, Typepad, what the heck is going on? AND, that's all I'm gonna say about that.
Moving on.
I ordered this online earlier this week and it came last night. I was crossing my fingers in hopes that Wes would absolutely love it (I sorta figured he wouldn't) and want to spend lots of time in it. Turns out 30 minutes was enough for him. But, that's 30 minutes of proofing I got finished before having to rescue him from the depths of despair .
I even talked Ty into driving his 4-wheeler in circles around him to entertain him a bit. It worked for another few minutes or so. Lately, Wes will stand at our front door and shriek for as long as it takes for someone to come and take him outside. He wants to be out there so badly! I just figured this would solve the problem for him!
Just a heads up to you guys - I have a couple of lenses I'll be listing on Ebay in the next day or two and I thought I'd give you guys first dibs. If you're interested, send me a quick email and I'll give you all the information.
Here are the lenses:
Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6III
and
Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS with lens hood
The lenses are like new and are barely used in awesome condition!
Today I'm trying really hard to catch up on proofing, get some prints in the mail, play with my boys a bit, and clean house. For some reason I'm moving slow this morning and really need a kick in the butt...if you know what I mean. It's times like this when I wish I lived closer to a Starbucks On Cue coffee bar (it's cheaper than Starbucks and WAY cool) so I could zoom up the street, get movin', and be back home to work in a jiffy. But, 10 acres in the country doesn't really allow for that...or adult conversation for that matter. In fact, I should probably go ahead and tell you I'm still in my PJs...
Don't judge.
Anyway, in an effort to get more done today. I'm posting just a few random shots from this past weekend. Have a great Tuesday!
Today is my dad's birthday. He's turning 58, which Ty says is really old. Since today is a Monday, we all decided yesterday would be the better day to celebrate. I mean, who wants to celebrate on a Monday after work, right?
Anyway, Sunday was a beautiful day...perfect for grilling steaks. Dad is the official GRILLMASTER when it comes to cooking steaks, so we pretty much leave him alone to do his job. Luckily, Grandma and Grandpa have lots of fun stuff to do at their house while we're waiting on dinner. I always offer to help, of course, then we all head outside to relax.
Here are some of the fun shots I got! Happy Birthday Grandpa (from Ty and Wes)! Grandma is always finding cool sand toys for Ty to play with and this one was no exception. Ty was talking about his new digger the entire drive home. Yes, that is my darling husband being a dork on the swings (please ignore the horrible lighting - I didn't have much choice in the matter). and this next one is my BEST SHOT for today...I LOVE it! I know this one's a bit blurry and the coloring is all wacky, but I liked it anyway... and here's the proof I was there... hi. and last...
