First of all, I have to admit I'm posting this because it's pretty slim pickin's around here with photos. It's raining so I've had to reschedule sessions. AND, I've been so caught up in all the hurricane news and the republican convention (mostly Sarah Palin) that instead of working each night, I've been plastered to the television!
I actually DVR'd Sarah Palin's speech tonight just so I wouldn't miss a bit of it while wrangling my children to bed!
So, with that being said, I promise to get back to work proofing and start posting everyday again!
Now, moving on....
This past weekend (after getting over a horrible 24 hour stomach bug) we had an elaborate cook-out with our neighbors and family. I'd been complaining about Josh's inability to cook anything at our house (folks, we're talking nothing - he can't even do a grilled cheese sandwich!) and my neighbor decided to take it upon himself to teach Josh a thing or two...or ten!
He looks darn cute in that apron, too!
Don, our neighbor, decided to organize a Labor Day cookout - Mexican style! Now, this wasn't just any kind of cook out. It was elaborate - complete with catering style warmers and glass dishes!
Josh left our house around noon and stayed there, cooking all day, until we arrived at dinner bringing along the rest of our extended family. I have to say, I was a tad bit impressed.
BUT, he has absolutely NO EXCUSE now for not being able to make a sandwich! Poor thing!
By the way, that's spicy marinated chicken cooking in the background. Here, take a closer look...
we also had marinated beef, hot tamales, queso, homemade salsa, rice, beans, tortillas...the list goes on and on...
Josh even roasted some of these...
Don swears Josh is the one that cut up all the peppers and onions, too! Again, I'm very impressed!
and for dessert, we had a little of this yummy fudge cake in honor of Jesse's 13th birthday!
